Village and Fisher Boat in the Rain. Fan mounted as album leaf, ink and light colors on gold paper. Signature by the artist: „In the Tianqi period (1621-1627), in the second leap month on the eighth day painted while raining for old Yuezhai in the style of Dachi (Huang Gongwang, 1269-1354), Xu Wenruo.“ Two seals of the artist: “Xu Wenrui”, “Zhaozhi shi”.
Old and important European private collection, assembled before 1930 and between 1950 and 1980
Xu Wenruo, style name Zhaozhi, was a landscape paniter from Zhejiang province. A fan he painted in 1633 is now kept in the Palace Museum in Peking
